Why we love Hereford Indie Food Businesses

There’s a definite buzz in the air as we look forward to the Hereford Indie Food Festival this weekend (27/28 August 2016).

At Kinder Accountants we are super thrilled to be one of the sponsors of the Hereford Indie Food Festival!  A community driven project celebrating the independent food scene, chefs, producers and makers in Herefordshire.

We look after a number of local indie food businesses, including Alex Gooch Artisan Baker, The Shack Revolution and Little Black Dog Cafe.  We love their energy, hard work, determination and innovative ideas.

These businesses keep their finger on the pulse by embracing online technologies we work with, including Xero, Receipt Bank, iZettle and intelligentPOS.

Because we really get what they’re about, and have instant access to their online data, we can help them manage their numbers and KPIs with really cool visual dashboards.

On a more personal note, I love seeing the vibrant and supportive indie food community that’s evolving in my home town.

I was raised in the hospitality industry, with my parents managing the Farmers’ Club in Hereford (now The Cosy Club) when I was 1!  We lived at the Farmers’ Club, and when I was 6 we moved to The Merton Hotel.  At the same time my folks ran a patisserie where Gilbies now is.  They then went on to run their local village pub, and still run a B & B.

To say that we lived and breathed hospitality is an understatement.  I remember my sister Emma  and I regularly looking after guests, serving in the restaurant, washing up, cleaning and everything in between.

I love that I can now be a part of other hospitality businesses, and really understand their issues, including customer happiness, creating and costing menus, managing staff and much more.  Not to mention the sheer hard graft that goes into making it all work!

So enjoy this weekend, we know we will!  Always support your local businesses, because everything they do is through determination and hard work, with no huge organisation to prop them up.

Thank you for reading.  If you have any questions or would like more info on anything mentioned, just give me a shout!
