GDPR – How Secure is the Information you Hold

businessman-using-tablet-and-set-up-network-connection-with-shield-picture-id914788014You are no doubt hearing a lot about GDPR – the General Data Protection Regulations that come into effect in May 2018.

No business is too small to be fined for Data Protection breaches and you need to get ready for this.

Think of the way you currently handle your client data as cash left in your house.  It’s their money but they let you keep it for them. Inside your house is a safe where you put the high value items. You don’t leave your doors and windows open with cash on the kitchen table.

What should you do to get ready for GDPR?

Start by doing an audit of the data you hold on individuals.  That is information that can be used to identify someone:

  • Why do you need it?
  • How securely are you keeping it?
  • Who has access to it?
  • How long do you need it for?
  • Where is it kept (geographically)
It does not have to be a painful process.

Some people are getting this done in a day.  If you are not clear about it all or are confused by the jargon here is a free webinar for you. [https://koffeeklatch.co.uk/events/] that will get you started.  Just pour yourself a cup of coffee and relax.

If you’d like to join a group of people working together to sort out GDPR we’d love to have you https://koffeeklatch.co.uk/gdpr-support/
